If you love America, this is something to own.  It's made of reclaimed American Chestnut boards that served for decades as barn support beams.  The wood is wormy (meaning adorned with wormholes and therefore, authentic), and hard to get these days because of the blight that came in 1921 or 22.  I can't remember.  It came when a cheap Chinese knockoff species of Chestnut was introduced into America.  The Chicom chestnuts weren't as sweet, and they were diseased.  American Chestnut Trees, with the sweetest chestnuts for open fires imaginable, have been dying ever since.  Needless to say, this bowl was not made in China and not meant to be a soup bowl.
